Ken Lawrence + Warwick SSII Soundclip Goodies

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Lokire, Jan 9, 2006.

  1. Who's up for some soundclips? ;)

It's been a little while, so here's a bunch of little goodies for ya...

    Ken Lawrence:

An improv jam I did on October 6th 2005. Sweet tone

Suite for Solo Cello No. 5 In C Minor -Courante
Did this back in May. A Bach piece I had been working on transposing onto bass (a little rough). Had forgotten about it untill today:

Warwick Streamer Stage II (can you say GROWL? :D ):

Me playing along to a Jamiroquai song with a sweet(!!) bassline. "If I like it, I just do it"

Me playing along to an Incubus song (also a sweet bassline) - "Clean"

    Enjoy :)

  2. *applause* :D

I especially loved your octave-to-ninth-back-to-octave slides you used in the Jamiroquai piece. Very smooth!!!

Love your touch, and your muting technique is fantastic. :bassist:

Techie Question - what did you use to record that (with the bass boosted over the backing music)?

All of those clips are great. I could listen to them over and over. Really great tone from both of your basses. Is "Clean" off of Make Yourself? I can't remember. Anyways, great job!

I don't know about the basses, but you sound great! I suspect you would sound just fine on an SX. :bassist:

  7. I really dig all of these clips. Great tone and playing! :bassist:

Move to Columbus. Give me lessons. :D ;)

  8. I suppose I do ;) .

Wish my SX played half as well as those two though :bawl:

Yep - "Clean" is on Make Yourself

I recorded the bass(es) direct through a Klark Teknik DI, into a Mackie 1402 mixer. Turned the bass EQ all the way down on the tracks I was playing to. EQ on the Warwick was flat with some compression only. Then that all goes to my Delta 66 soundcard recorded to Adobe Audition :)

    Thanks guys :bassist:

    Nice!

I prefer the tone of the W, too.
a bit off-topic question: what p-ups do you have in there?

  11. Nope, probably never :D

Pickups in the Warwick or the KL? The warwick is stock (for now anyways) with the MEC pickups and pre. The KL has Benavente pickups and pre.

reviving a very old post because 1: I had this SSII/Jamiroquai track on my laptop for ages, then burnt it off, and played it on a good stereo and I gotta say WOW - it sounded great! Then 2: I had to trawl thru the forums to find the original post again and say WOW in person. The way it popped out of the stereo, just amazing. I don't know if it's the Klark or the fine playing or the SSII magic or what, but damn it's nice.
