I'm building a bass from scratch that is routed for a musicman style pickup. I'm trying to decide on what pickup and preamp to put in the bass. How are those Kent Armstrong MM style pickups? Has anyone out there used them? I'm thinking of maybe and EMG or Bartolini preamp. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.
  2. kent makes some good stuff but i think the MM was made down to a price ..i had one for a bit and sold it...it was tubby sounding and weak.
the thing about MM is that you cant get the real deal..? can you get one from EB?..not knowing too much about s-d but had a bart one and it needs the preamp..if you have a MM you already have it built in...
someday EMG will perhaps get into this area but since they do DC anyway its only in the shape of the casing at the end of the day...
    i would choose a soapbar.
