Anyone have any experience with these?

I'm looking to build a 5 string fretless with MM and J bass type pu's, probably Warmoth.

A set of Kent Armstrong J's (hot vintage jazz) came stock in my Reverend, and the bass sounds amazing. They hum when used individually, but there's not a lot of shielding in the bass. No shielding under the pickups. When used together they are dead quite and have great tone.

Had one of his neck pickups in my last Jazz bass. It sounded great two, but it was blended with a bridge pickup that was a different brand. Thought about buying a bridge pickups to match the neck one, but at $67 each, wasn't worth it. Haven't found anyone other than WD Music that sells them. Prices kinda suck.

If you're going to use just one Jazz pickup (with a MM pickup), you won't get the hum cancelling effect. You might want to look into the DiMarzio Ultra Jazz. It's a humbucker and doesn't need another pickup to cancel with. They get great reviews.
