Keyboard through bass amp

Hey. I've recently started playing with an idea to play bass with keyboard on some songs. Mainly so we can introduce some new sounds (i.e piano/organ/horns etc) to our songs. I'll split the keyboard with bass on the left and something other on the right. That part is easy.

However, I plan to do it through my bass amp (MBP MainStage -> GK 700RBII + Hartke 410XL) and was looking for info about this when stumbled upon a post in harmonycentral.com

There's an issue using a bass amp as a keyboard amp.
The input stage of the amp is meant for a high impedance instrument, not a line level keyboard output. You may eventually fry it.
You will be safer using the direct power amp input, if your amp has one.

Can anyone confirm if it's really a bad idea or is it safe?
