I'd buy it in a second if I didn't already own an SVT-DI...but I have a feeling that I'd like this one even better.
This design really is great for electric bass, folks. Every FOH engineer I've worked with loves it.
Buy it before I do... or buy my SVT DI for $50 more just because it says 'Ampeg' on it : )

Ok so I've been following this thread and I've got a question...

I am looking for a Pre-Amp and or DI for using live on stage with no amp (direct to FOH with in ears). How will this DI sound just Bass (Fender American Pro Precision V) -> Tuner -> Khan DI -> FOH?

Will I need a separate pre-amp in front of it? Does it require any other tone shaping tools to sound great?

Setting is Contemporary Worship in a fairly large church.

 

I used an SVT DI with an in ear rig live for a few tours and loved it. In my situation there was an amp on stage and we did mic the cab but I believe that most of my mix was the DI with just a small amount of the mic mixed in. My earpieces were custom molded and sealed very tight so I wasn't hearing the speaker or any stage sound at all.
If you like your bass I think it's safe to say you'll like this DI for an in-ear application.

 

Love my these DIs and +1 on great CS from Obeid, he was gracious enough to help me with some tech issues on my used and abused SVT-DI a few years back - long after the SLM/Loud sale and his departure from Ampeg. Good luck with the sale on this one.
