Kick drum box thing?

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous [BG]' started by Axtman, Mar 10, 2014.

  1. Has anyone used on of those kick drum box things? It's a small flat square box that when you step on it, it goes "thump". It has one 1/4 inch out that goes to an amp or mixer.

I am considering getting one for when out drummer is away and I am on the only rhythm section at church.

Cajon? with a pickup? They are all the rage these days. They are the new Ukulele.

We have a build one yourself kit from Meinl:

And a ton of others. they have snare versions, kick pedals, aux percussion stuff, seats.... lots of Cajons and Cajon toys.

  4. I just watched a great vid on youtube of a diy stompbox that uses a pbass pickup, wood box, and a license plate. It looks like a more effective/ workable unit than the stompbox I just picked up from Rondo music (variable output and weird ghosting effects)

I haven't used one, but know a few solo blues-based guys using them. Can be cool, but a heavy handed mix with too much bhoohm, bhoohm, bhoohm through subs can ruin the vibe.
