I'm planning on buying an MTD active Kingston or Heir.
I'm looking for a very growly bass (i like the sound of stingrays but also of warwicks) but I'm looking for a cheap 5string with 19mm stringspacing, so MTD will be my choice.
I already have a bass with 2 jazz-type PU's, so I think I don't need the extra neckPU of the heir.
And to get a growly tone, I think rosewood is the best choice.

Any comments on the Heir vs. Kingston-dilemma or the rosewood versus maple dilemma?

    Thanks!

  2. I'm a maple guy, but I prefer a brighter sound than rosewood will generally afford me. I'd always go with the Heir, simply because the addition of the J p'up gives you more tonal options. I have the Heir with maple board and I'm very happy with it.
