Does anyone know if this bass is worth the money? I have a Yamaha RBX765A And do enjoy it, but am looking for a second bass. I could possibly pick this one up for around 400-450. Would it be as good as my Yamaha? John
I've tried a NS 2000/4, I dont know what it is that seperates that one from the Q5. I liked the bass, I thought of buying it for a while, but I bought a Warwick instead. The neck and sound of the Spector is great, but I thought that it felt a bit "sloppy" or whatever you wanna call it. Some buzzing in the upper frets too. Overall: A good bass, great for slapping!
The 2000/4 is neck through with a carved body, like the Czech and US Spectors. The Q series has an non contoured body and a bolt on neck. They are both made in Korea.
I tried a NS2000Q4 that one of my customers bought. It is very live sounding and despite it´s basswood body, it sound like no other basswood bass, it has a great "live" sound that is excelent to get a growly pick tone and excellent slapping tones. Good low action that allowed me very fast slap riffs and great tapping. The string spacing is close and the neck is very thin , and extremely comfortable, it was a delight to play. Sadly, it only had 4 strings. Bridge = Premium Brass Bridge Pickups = EMG HZ, first time I tried them. very good better than Mighty Mites.
I like the Bolt on NS-2000 Spector basses. I had the same bass that I used as a back up to my USA NS-5. I sold it only because I got a GREAT deal on an NS-5CR on Musicians Friend. If you can, go to a store that has the Spector & bring your Yamaha with you.
i played one the 4 string ones, i LOVED it, perfect for slap and tap playing. and finger style as well.
Thanks guys.. I put a high bid on one through Ebay and won the auction. The guy had NO RESERVE set on it and started the bidding at $399.00. So, if this sale doesn't fall through on the dealers part (which i don't think it will cuz he got good ratings) than I picked up an $800.00 bass for $410.00. Does that sound right? Ignus
1) That bass does not cost $800 2) $410 is not high if the bass is new, it is still lower than retail, but just a little. 3)Does it have a case?
I meant that I bid high.. I was the highest bidder which was $410.00. The bass runs retail at $749.00. I was just at Spectors site. I have seen them through musicians friend for $569.00 as well as other places and haven't found it cheaper than that.. Soooo.. $410.00 is a damn good deal. No if's and's and but's about it. Ignus
I had to work for about a hour at are local music store and had to tune several of those! I also thought that it was very sloppy. But then again before i tuned those i had to tune a europe bass and a bolt on usa. So between the 2 they were not even close to the same! But i aslo tuned several other basses that day and for the price range it was the best! Others i tuned were washburns-cheapy model yuck! Ibanez and peavey! Ohh and a old bently!
I got it! It was $440.00... That is with shipping & insurance and it comes along with a gig bag. Ignus
Congrats! You did good. I paid 600 w/ hs case for my Q5. I did change to EMG 40's and 18volt system. Made a world of differance for the mid and high end tone.
Yup.. Well here's the link if you guys want to check it out. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1468160546&ed=1002158507 What I can't figure out is why only one other person bid for it. Did I miss something? Ohh by the way.. They only charged 60 bucks for a hard shell case.. Guitar Center charges more than that. So, I'm paying $490.00 with bass, h/s case, taxes and shipping... Not bad. Iggy
