speaking about moderately priced 5 string bass i'd like to have your opinion on this www.musicyo.com/product_specs.asp?pf_id=009
I have the 4 string - brought it as a backup to my USA Precision Hotrod. I still find I am amazed by the fact that I hardly ever use my P anymore, the sound, versatility and playability of the Kramer is truly amazing, head and shoulders above the P IMO (No Flames Please). You can definately see the difference in build quality between the Precision and Kramer (Kramer is not too bad but not as good as the P). When it arrived the set-up was completely pear-shaped but once I'd got it professionally set-up it is wonderful. The 'built to rock hard' image is a bit of a red herring as you can get all sorts of sounds out of it. A complete bargain as far as I am concerned, but it will probably have almost no resale value. Guitart Buyer Magazine (UK publication) did a review of it in the November Issue (Can't find an online reference to it though
mmhh.. interesting. for that price this bass is becoming more and more interesting. and it seems well considered: www.harmony-central.com/Bass/Data4/Kramer/Barretta-522S-01.html obviously my word are related to the not so pricey basses. but i can't find a bass for this price that can compete with this one and musicyo has opened the european sire... here's a pic:
please do not buy anything with the name Kramer on it,please im warning you.my brother bought the kramer amp and bass package for $200.After 6 months,he had to repair the bass, and the amp starting sounding distorted after awhile.believe me,he takes care of his things really well,he would never mess it up.please do not buy a kramer.look at the headstock, its just not right.
musicyo seems like a site just trying to con people by selling the cheap, bad quality brands.the only decent bass on there is Tobias.
can you name a 5 string bass that's cheap that you think is better than the kramer. i'm not interested in this for the kramer name on the headstock. i'm just looking for a 5 string bass that's the best possible for the money. suggestions are welcome. and it's not written that if the package is bad everything made under the kramer name is bad. thanks
Well I know you've all heard this before but, buy USED if your looking for the most bang for the buck!!!
I've had very good luck with MusicYo Korean instruments (Steinberger Spirits). So has a friend that has one of the neck-through Kramer 422S fours from MusicYo. And so has my uncle with his Kramer Nightrider guitar. My only complaint with my friend's 422S is the reversed headstock design - a pain in the butt to reach for tuning if you have arthritis like me. Frankencow, you need to take into account the Kramer that they put in the $200 package may not be the best quality - its made to sell for a price (under $100). Your way of judging Kramer is like saying all Fenders are junk because your Squire Affinity blew chunks. Jeez.
hey heavyduty were just using the squier-fender as an example or is it something u thought i said?cuz i do think my squier blows chunks, but fenders rock!ive played better, more expensive kramers and i still didnt like them.
Yes crested radish,I have played a few Kramers. If you read my other posts,my brother owned one,a 4-string,which i didnt like.I've played another 4,and one 5.I didn't really like any of them, just my opinion, dont pay attention to me...
1) The Kramers I've played are much higher build quality than ANY Squier I've ever seen. 2) Lower action? Can you say "get a setup"? 3) Better sound? Different, but not better. An opinion. 4) Better headstock? Again, your opinion. Mine, too. At some point you'll realize that just because something isn't your cup of tea, it doesn't necessarily suck. I wouldn't buy a MY Kramer because of the headstock, but it's still a decent instrument - just not for me.
The reverse headstock design may make finding a long enough B string a bit of a pain. But it could possibly make the B string tighter, due to the increased tension length. Not sure though. Barroso, since you are in Italy, I'm sure that the Squier 5 probably costs more than the $239 that they go over here for, don't they? I like the Squier for the price, but you can probably get the Kramer for the same price as we can in the US, since Musicyo opened up a site for the EU. The one bad part about the Squier is that it has 4 string pickups, so you would have to modify or replace the pickups immediately to get an even volume from all of the strings. The Kramer has bar polepiece pickups according to the site, and if they are 5 string pickups, they should have very even response across all 5 strings. I know a couple of people who have Musicyo Kramer guitars, and they are amazingly good for the price.
