    Krappy “Tap 5” Bass

This is a custom 5-string Krappy tap bass made by Kevin Siebold in March of 2017 for a friend that lost the use of his right hand. Like all tapping instruments, it can be played two-handed or as a standard bass guitar, but can also be played with only the left hand.

Despite the name, Krappy basses are anything but. This is a nice, neck-through bass with a 34” scale that is tuned B-E-A-D-G. It can be seen on the Krappy website at: Krappyguitars where it is called the Hebb Tap-5.

Here’s the Krapmeister himself demonstrating the Tap-5:

The bass comes with a lap stand and a stand to play in in an upright position.

Asking $300. Free shipping in the contiguous US.

    Krappy 4. Krappy 4. Krappy 6. Krappy 1. Krappy 7.

Always thought his stuff was "cute". Never heard one before. Going to have to reassess my opinion; that thing sounds quite awesome. Very acoustic quality to the sound. Gotta go see if he does fretless. GLWTS.

I would certainly entertain reasonable offers.

The neck is built through the body so it’s the same wood. I think the fretboard is rosewood. I’ll see if I can dig up Kevin’s description when he was building it.

I never answered this on the post but the bass is made of mahogany, maple, cherry, and katalox. Thanks.

It is an oil finish and the neck profile might be described as a shallow V
