First let me start off by saying I know that Kustom products are cheap and definitely not even close to the top but I'd like to get a question answered. I have a Yamaha EMX 512 powered mixer. Right now I run 2 8 ohm 15" FOH speakers out of the "main" and 2 8 ohm 12" speakers for stage monitors. This particular monitor is a powered 2x10 and 4 ohms. Can it be used with the powered mixer to be used as another stage monitor? If so what do I need to do to use it? I'd like to have a 12" monitor on each side for us and the 2x10 in the middle in front of the singer. Would you just use a jack and run it from the monitor to the powered mixer? I'm not necessarily getting this monitor but I'm asking for any 2x10 monitor rated at 4 ohms. One more thing...the only thing going through the PA is vocals and occasionally an electric/acoustic guitar. Thanks for your input. On the front of your mixer there is a jack labeled monitor out. Use a guitar cable to run from there to the 1/4inch input on the kustom. My guess is it will not be loud enough and will squeal like a stuck pig. But all will not be lost since boating season is just right around the corner.
When doing that will the mono EQ on the powered mixer control a "mix" for the 2x10? I'm not getting this monitor. I got a email from Musician's Friend and this one was in the ad. I'm going to look for another 2x10 4 ohm from another manufacturer. Thanks for the help.
As long as it is powered it doesn't matter what the ohms are since the speaker has its own amp built in. From what I can gather from the manual the monitor out jack is controlled by the monitor master knob and the monitor sections graphic EQ.
Not true. My BL just bought one of those and I was suprised how well it sounded being it's only 100w! Had volume to spare and had decent low end. If your band is an insanely loud metal band then yeah, it may not have enough power. For 'normal' volume bands, it's great!
