kustom and road

    alright, so this guyfound a kustom 2x15 and a road 400 watt head.
    anyone heard of them?
    i've never liked kustom.

    I'm only familiar with the original, old, Kustoms from the 60's/70's. IMO, they sucked donkeys, even though some had JBL's. They were high priced and very muffled sounding.
    Then there was that godawful, thick naugahyde padding which had sparkle crap in it unless the color was black. All the "greaser" bands with chick singers in go-go boots used them. Very uncool where I grew up.

    Road stuff impressed me - quite loud, good fidelity (sort of like an SWR), and slammed good hard low notes. Don't know why they didn't survive.

    yeah i've never been too impressed by kustom anyway.
    actually i thought everything i tried was awful.

    never heard of road before though, i wonder if it is any better than my nemesis dealy.



    hmm.
    doubt it.

    Yep, unlike many basses, newer, high quality, bass amp technology has a lot to offer over the old stuff, with a few exceptions.

    I agree with the others here. The old Kustom (I've not tried the newer ones) sucked. Road was good though.
