Hello Fellow Olinto fans. Offering this first to clubbies. FREE LABELLA 41" flats. Brand new!
Short story: I was looking for strings for my newly acquired Gretsch 6072, which is huge, and Eric Coco and I thought these rare 41" (ball to silk ) would be the right fit. Well, we had a small misunderstanding, and the strings are 1-2" too long. So, Eric, being the gentleman he is, is sending me a new standard set, which will fit, and when I asked if I should send these 41" back, he said just keep them. So, I'm paying his generosity forward and offering this brand new set of uncut 41" flats for free to anyone who sends me $10 postage. First come, first served, CONUS only please. I have no idea what basses could use these. Maybe a dingwall, or some other extra long-scale bass. Remember, they are 41" from ball to the start of the silk. PM if interested.

Hey guys, I've been intrigued by Olinto for a while, played some of their basses and love them! May I ask for anyone with a good amount of experience with them...if you could afford ONE, would you opt for their P or J bass? I'd be happy with either, just curious if they've "optimized" their builds for one style vs the other.

It's like going to a steakhouse and ordering chicken...sure it's tasty and good but may not be on the same level as their steak! FWIW I'm sure I'd be thrilled with either, still a fun question to consider. Thanks in advance for advice/help!

so we started with only P basses and did that exclusively for a few years, then came the P5, then the J4, and eventually the J5. All of the same level of quality and R&D have gone into all of our models, so it's hard to say if one is better made or "optimized" than another. I think if you're a P guy, you're gonna be really happy. If you're a J guy, I think you're gonna be equally as happy. I personally own both P and J basses and they're incredible! Why not have both?

Yep! All our bodies are 1.5". It's actually based on a handful of Fenders made in the early 60s with 1.5" bodies. Not sure if they were mistakes and Leo decided to sell them anyway or if he was actually trying something out, but it didn't stick. When Eric first decided to start up Olinto, a friend of ours brought over his '63 P bass for Mas to take measurements for his templates, and the body was 1.5". We loved the feel of the thinner body, not to mention the lighter weight, and a cool feature that would make us different than Fender, so we ran with it. Personally, it's one of my favorite Olinto features, and now that I've gotten so used to it, whenever I pick up a fender it just feels thick and clunky to me now!

Totally agree, and especially with P-bass bodies - being the shape they are, they can get heavy fast! That was the first thing I noticed when I strapped my Olinto on. Wasn't aware until then. Also, I didn't know that there were Fenders out there with that depth. Interesting...

Does that require special screws then? I'd hate to have a screw go through the guitar...
