I'm wanting to get myself a set of flatwounds and from what I have read the Labella Deep Talkin' flats sound like the strings for me. I've also read that flats are generally higer tension than rounds. I have played Fender 7250 Super Bass rounds on my Jazz before and they are 45/65/85/105 gauge. Labella DTF's come in a 45/65/85/105 gauge as well but would the strings be a higher tension than the Fender's or the same? Would the Labella DTF light guage be closer in terms of string tension? What's the advantage of higher or lower string tension as far as tone/sound?

Flats are always higher tension at the same gauges. Light flats would be closer, but I'm not sure how much closer. Fatter strings produce fatter sound, but you have to work a little bit harder with them
