A truly outstanding Labella Olinto Select (#2018) Hand Carved by master luthier Mas Hino at the Guitar Shoppe in Brooklyn, N.Y. Roasted Ash body with tinted maple neck and roasted birdseye maple fingerboard. This bass came to me recently and while it is hands down the absolute best PBass I’ve ever handled; however, I have a baby on the way and need to focus some funds into that direction. This bass is a lightweight (8.4 lbs) and resonant example of the breed that is has a very responsive/stable neck that reacts beautifully to set ups and is capable of incredibly low/effortless playability and string height. Truly luxurious feeling, and out performs any vintage P, Custom Shop, or U.S. Lakeland Glaub I’ve owned (and I’ve had lots). The pickup is also hand wound by Mas Hino and is wonderfully punchy and full sounding delivery in all registers that seems to excel at cutting through a mix. This bass came to me with what I was told is an unbranded Alleva Cappolo soft case, and the bass will be sent along with it. It’s a very nice case. I will note that when I received the bass I noticed a wood imperfection inside the truss cavity... nothing that is in any way a functionality issue, but rather an imperfection inside the channel itself that isn’t fully seen without removing the neck and looking directly into the truss channel. I wrote to team at Labella to get a quote to clean it up and to route an access channel as well and restore the bass to overall as-built showroom condition and they were very kind/prompt and easy to talk to. They stand behind their basses! I haven’t sent it in to have anything done, but will say the price they quoted was very low and the Eric Cocco himself is very helpful. The bass will come with GHS Pressurewounds installed as well as a set of Labella Jamesons. This bass wears the Jamersons like a champ and plays very smoothly with them. Also I have some removable glow in the dark side markers in it as well that I’ve found useful on dark stages. Here’s a quick and unpolished vid: Previous thread from when I purchased the bass can be found here: https://www.talkbass.com/threads/olinto-p-bass.1426159/#post-2398591[/URL"]SOLD - Olinto P Bass] $2700 + $85 Shipped CONUS only. If this was 5 string I’d be in trouble. Hopefully I will get one soon. These basses are worth every penny. Craftsmanship and tone are exceptional.
Right on, it’s a fantastic combination of elements. The roasting plus the incredibly tight tolerances of the build out make this thing sing.
I played an Olinto at the Chicago Music Exchange several months back. Badass basses; top notch quality in every millimeter of these intruments.
