  1. abraham laboriel is the most creative bassist of our time. If you're in doubt as to this, then get His album "GIDUM" and by the time you're through listening to it, you'll surely take a cue from me.

Abe has the most unique technique of any bassist I've ever seen. I have his instructional video and he was trained in classical guitar early on so he will use all 5 of his fingers on the right hand. He also has that thumping (like thumping marbles) and rocking hand technique that is really different. He plays with so much emotion too I just sit in awe.

Guidum and his other solo albums are too tame and too sugary.
But he's a cool bassist with impeccable timing and technique, and his son is one of the most kick-ass drummers I've ever seen.
