I'm thinking of getting a fretless J style bass, maybe a Carvin kit. I'd like to minimize hum, and based on my experience with Lace Sensor Hot Golds in my Strat, I think Lace J p'ups might work well in a fretless J for clarity and sustain, with some warmth for good measure. Anyone try this?

  2. I had the same pickups in a Carvin Bolt (strat) and they sounded excellent.

For what it's worth, I happen to like Carvin's pickups, especially their passives... who knows, if you can try out an LB20F, you may love it. I know I love my LB70PF =)
