I guess I've been living under a rock for the past many years. I had no idea that Lado was still in business, making supremely fine bass guitars. On a recent trip back to Montreal, I made my obligatory pilgrimage to Italmelodie (the best darn bass department outside of Vancouver). It was there that I spotted the Lado Studio 606 6-string bass. After much waffling, I finally decided to muster up the strength to lift the beast down from its wall-stand. Am I ever glad I did! Even though I never actually plugged it in (something I rarely do unless I'm totally serious about purchasing), a fairly quick acoustic workout really impressed me. The workmanship, finish, features and overall feel were incredible! Does anyone out there own one of these? What is the tone like? Although I'm not a huge fan of 6-strings, this one, despite having an extremely wide neck and fingerboard, was totally playable. Playing that bass was one of my favourite memories of that latest Montreal jaunt!
