Lakland 44-01 vs. Fender Aerodyne

    k i prolly know the answer but can some1 sway me one way or the other?

    the only reason im considering the fender is cause its super light and love the no fret markers....
    also is this a knock off lakland cause i thought they were like $1000

    Your Fender link went to a Standard P bass. Which Aerodyne are you looking at, a P/J model or J/J?

    Either way, it's pretty much an apples/oranges comparison with a 44-01, which is active and uses Bartolini soapbar pickups.

    As to whether the 44-01 is simply a knockoff: I haven't played one myself, but a lot of folks here emphatically say it isn't. Some even prefer it over the -02 models. If you do a search, there's a thread here devoted to 44-01 and 55-01s--it's called the "01 Club".
