Your Fender link went to a Standard P bass. Which Aerodyne are you looking at, a P/J model or J/J? Either way, it's pretty much an apples/oranges comparison with a 44-01, which is active and uses Bartolini soapbar pickups. As to whether the 44-01 is simply a knockoff: I haven't played one myself, but a lot of folks here emphatically say it isn't. Some even prefer it over the -02 models.
