I’ve fallen in love and I find myself playing the same bass about 90% of the time, which is making me realize I need to let a bass or two go. This is a Lakland Skyline 44-01. I bought this bass last fall, it still had the stickers on the pickups and control cover, and I’ve loved owning it. It was factory PLEKed and has the import line of Bartolini pickups and 3-band preamp.

This is definitely one of the best playing basses that I’ve owned and definitely the best bass under $1000. I currently have the action set low and the neck straight with zero fret buzz anywhere. This bass honestly plays better than basses I’ve owned that were thousands of dollars. The neck has a B width, 1 9/16” and it’s much thinner from front to back than most other necks. Also, the balance is close to perfect on a strap or whilst sitting.

Overall, it’s just a fantastic bass. I basically play P-basses and variants of P’s and that’s all. I’m going to go down to just three basses and I’m going to let this one and another go. It's in great shape. There are no dings or scratches on the body, just some normal spider webbing from being wiped down, and only a couple light dings on the neck.

Price: $524 plus shipping in a hardcase.

LOL, that last pic is indeed a P-bass! Thanks for pointing that out, it looks so similar from the rear. I'll have to fix that.

I already swapped the picture out for the correct one. The original picture of the rear was a black P-bass with a string through bridge and Hipshot tuners. It looked almost exactly the same, especially when looking at the thumbnail while I was loading it.

I had a 5502 and I think the soap bars on these sound better. Wish I had the funds!

I knew I forgot something! IIRC, it’s right about 8.5 lbs. I’ll weigh it when I get home tonight.

    Thanks,

That is a sweet bass. I used to own one exactly like it and it played easier than just about any bass I've owned.

I can’t believe it’s still here either! It’s such a fantastic bass. Someone is really getting a gem.

  19. Gah this is beyond tempting. Posting says it’s in Oregon? I’m in PDX - if/when I unload some excess gear I’ve been trying to clear out I may ping you. Ridiculous deal on a beaut!
