Lakland 44-1 vs MTD Kingston Heir

    Probably the Lakland. I've played more Laklands than MTD's. They both feel very nice, but I like the sound of the Laklands much more. I believe all of the Laklands are active w/ passive switch and all of the MTD sans MTD Americans are passive. That's one of the reasons I like the sound better on the Laklands. Plus, (most) Laklands have Bartolini preamps and pickups.

    I like MTD. I believe there is a new active version of the Heir, not sure about the kingston.

    I prefer the Heir's ergonomics. It has a comfy flat neck.
