I bought this a few months back and other than adding Dunlop straplocks and DR Hi-Beams, it is just as I got it. Which is perfect! Lakland only made a few of these and now only make the 44-07. It has an amazing sound with lots of control. Please see the original thread by Marcel in Austin. He has all the details of this amazing bass. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f126/us-lakland-55-07-55-94-chi-sonics-797939/ $2300 including shipping to conus. Paypal OK. I might be interested in a Pedulla, Fodera, Sadowsky or others with the same or better quality. Thanks, Eddy
I have one of the 44-07 models with humbucking ChiSonics and optional Passive Tone Control knob - I love it! Good luck with the sale.
I got the 55-07 proto and AFTERWARDS saw this monster...tried to trade Dan Lakin mono a mono and he would not do it! this color is called "ice blue" and is really similar to a color BMW uses on their car....I have a JO5CS in this color and LOVE IT! The 55-07 is a real monster...it has major boom as well as Sophistication..... I know the previous owner who loved it as well...he only sold it to pay some bills.... someone is gunna be a happy Lakie owner!
Wow, I wish I had the cash right now. Really miss that bass. It's the most beautiful bass I have ever had. Eddy is a class act too. Good luck on the sale!
I love the fact that this has the passive tone control knob too. Lakland doesn't like putting it in their basses...I like it though. Even more of a reason to get this beautiful instrument!
Also the single coil / hum bucking switch is really cool. Single coil mode has a nice bite to it, more treble. Dual coil gives it that fat, rounder sound.
Other trade possibilities - Pavel, Stambaugh, Aleva-Coppola, etc 5 strings or 24 fret 4 strings. Maple or ebony fretboard. +/- cash ok. Thanks, Eddy
Still available. I assume everyone knows this is a US made Lakland. Partly designed by Ed Freidland, setup by Carl Pedigo at Lakland. Per Marcel in Austin: "This is an amazing Chicago-made Lakland 55-07, in beautiful ice-blue, rosewood fretboard and birds-eye maple dots. The 55-07 is basically a 55-94 (same body, same neck) with a different pickup configuration: the highly regarded Chi-Sonics, made by Lakland's sister company, Hanson. The Chi-Sonics on this bass are the humbucking type, which are rare and not currently available for purchase. The preamp is the LH3 also made by Hanson, with a twist: there's a passive tone control and a coil tap switch which can make them single coils. It is in like new shape, I could not find any marks or scratches on it. It weighs 9.38 lbs in my wife's accurate digital kitchen scale. Comes with the cream G&G case. Now the icing on the cake: it has arrived yesterday from Lakland where it received a super setup from the man Carl Pedigo himself. You won't believe how well it plays. " It is well worth the price.
