Before my gigs this weekend I started an experiment: restringing my 5501 through the bridge to see if there were any noticable tonal differences.

I've had this bass since January and have strung it through the body as recommended by the factory prior to this weekend.

Before my first gig on Friday, I immediately switched the B string back to through the body for added tension and definition. For the next few weeks I plan to leave the other strings through the bridge.

Anyone else notice differences with similar experimentation?

I'm currently using smith strings on my 55-01. the strings are tapercore so the only way they will fit is thru the bridge. I like the old strings thru the body better I must say, and when the time comes and I change strings again I will go back thru the body. Just my preference.
