Does Lakland manufacture their own bodies on their basses, or do they get their bodies from a subcontractor like eg. Sadowsky? Are the bodies hand-manufactured or cut into shape with a CNC machine?

If I had to make anything in the volume that they do I would use CNC - all the positives of accurate cutting and no real downside. It is MUCH more difficult to be consistent when you have to cut everything by hand. Also, CNC is much cheaper to do once you reach a certain level of production - keeps the cost of your bass down, too.

I really don't see a problem or downside to letting a machine do the repetitive tasks and letting a person do the ones that require judgement - like picking wood, setting up the bass....
