SOLD Back on the market. $285 shipped within the continental U.S. This 2008 neck was purchased NOS and installed for about a week. Very minor fret wear.
May not work anyway. I thought I saw a thread that the DJ necks had either 1 extra fret or 1 less fret so not interchangeable!
Wow, live and learn. I went to the Lakland site to find out the scoop: The DJ has both 1+ and 1-, depending on the model you're comparing them to.... Both the 4 and 5 string DJ have 21 frets. The JO has 20 frets on the 4 string and 22 frets on the 5 string The AJ and P-Bass models are like the JO The 44-xx and 55-xx (being a Lakland original design) have 22 frets on both the 4 and 5 string. So, it seems that 4 string "vintage inspired" Laklands have 20 fret necks 5 string versions of the vintage instruments required a slight redesign anyway, so Lakland made them conform to the Lakland 22 fret standard. And (since they were a recreation of the DJ bass from "A Basses") the DJ models are their own animal. The really grainy picture of DJ's A bass seems to have a 21 fret neck. So I assume the Lakland DJ models are faithful recreations, with 21 fret necks that are only found on that model. Thanks for the tip!
Somebody grab this!! These are GREAT necks. Find a way to make it fit............get a different bridge, move the bridge, have a body made, etc. I doubt you will ever see a DJ neck in mint condition at this price again.
Perhaps - if you can cram the saddle pieces into the springs enough to make the intonation work. Look at the distance between fret 21 and fret 22 on your 55-02... that's how much your saddles will all need to move towards the tail end of your bass. More likely you would need to move the bridge. If you don't use the string thru body option (and thus don't care if the holes in bridge no longer line up with the holes thru the body), moving the bridge would not be a huge job. But its new position might leave exposed screw holes.
