I have got a Lakland Skyline Joe Osborn 5 with a J Retro. Now I am looking for a passive 5 string compagnion. I read a lot about the aggressive sound of the Daryl Jones. What is difference in sound of both models: maple or rosewood fingerboard? Is maple too aggressive on this bass?

The only person who can answer that is you.

It's kinda like asking, "Is this food too salty?"

I personally would recommend a passive Joe Osborn 4 with Fralins or a Bob Glaub with single Dark Star pickup to compliment your DJ5 with J-Retro..but that's just me...

I got the JO/J-Retro. The passive DJ 5 should be the new acquisition.
