Lakland fretboard help

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by subsonic, Dec 19, 2005.

  1. The D and G strings (especially the G string) on my Lakland 55-01 are digging into the fretboard between the nut and the string retainer. The "G side" of the string retainer is screwed down slightly closer to the neck than the "Low-B side" to accomodate the thinner strings. My question is as follows... it seems that if I were to raise the retainer a millimeter or two on the G side of the neck, the D and G would no longer "bite" into my fretboard... how long are the two screws that anchor the retainer? Will the string tension rip the screws right out of the neck when I tune her back up to pich, or do I have some room to work with? If anyone knows the exact length of the anchor screws, it would really help.

    Thanks
