Lakland or Fender?

    Hi, Havent tried either but which one would you go for

    LAKLAND SKYLINE 44-02 DELUXE or FENDER JAZZ DELUXE 2002?

    i see this popping up again and again- there are no 44-02 here yet- so how can a comparison be made?? however, i suspect id say Lakland

    Ummm - you're serious??? ;)

    IME, Laklands are what post-CBS Fenders have dreams about - a Fender Jazz and an MM Stingray had a baby!!! Plus - you're paying a ridiculous premium for the letters on the headstock, "f-e-n-d-e-r" unless you're looking at it as an investment.

    That's just my experience and the application to the music I play most often.

    It's all about finding what's right for you. Personally, I like the "mugger" personality of the Skylines' tones as opposed to the relatively "behaved" Jazz. Maybe if I could play more like Marcus Miller, I'd like the Jazz more.

    Bottomline, if you don't try both, you'll shortchange yourself.
