Whomever is looking for these, the first one is for sale on bassgear.com. It has an upgraded US Bart system.
Still not clear on what makes it $1000. My 55-01 cost...uhh...well, Dude's selling them for $759. What does a person get for the extra $240? Looks nice, though. I'll be getting this same finish except with a maple fretboard.
I've got a feeling that you and I are probably paying the same amount. I'm getting the MM/J config. Silver with maple board. Dan's going to fit a pearloid pickguard on it for me.
I think the opaque finished ones look nicer with a pickguard. I woulda liked to have inca silver, but I took what was available. So I take it neither the 55-01 nor the 55-02 come with a pickguard?
to address the difference between the 55-01 and 55-02 i was told by someone at bass central that the 55-01 has the bart soapbars which while still good are not the same as the MM/J electronics package in the 55-02 which apparently is identical to those in the US made Laklands
Understood, but the bass in question seems to be a 55-01, which should list at $995, and I'm wondering what feature is included on this bass that would make it worth $1000.
Ahh my fault for not seeing that. Im guessing whoever's selling is trying to make extra cash by taking advantage of the fact that these basses arent widely available in stores yet and some people may not know what they're retailing for. Edit: it says upgraded USA bart preamp, that could be the reason?
Mine will look like that one. FC, let me know how you like the maple neck, kind of wish I had gotten one on mine too, now, after playing a maple necked 4-94 for the last couple of months, but I ain't griping at this price!
