Selling my Lakland 55-01. Like most Lakland basses, it plays great and sounds great, neck/fretboard feel wonderful, nice weight at 9.8 lbs. Neck is very clean, fretboard is clean and has some nice figuring. This is Indonesia made.
Has Lakland MM5.4 Quad Coil pickups and preamp. LH3 Quad-Coil "Soap Bar" US wound Lakland Hybrid Split Pickup.
Previous owner also installed a buffer/preamp to give greater control over each pickup separately (see photo & links) . The tone and punch on this bass is huge. The buffer has no manufacturer stamp on it, but has DB918.1 written on the side of the circuit. The only DB918 I could find was on a TB forum and was a Bartolini buffer, but not sure. The bass itself is in very good condition. With some small buckle scratches where the neck bolts are (see photo's) and minor finish scratches on the back. Front has mostly the usual swirling from arm, fingers...etc. Prior owner plugged a couple holes with Rosewood plugs and did a nice job. Not sure why he moved the position of the pots that were there. I took pictures of the bass plain and then with each upgrade added so you can see them. I tried to be very thorough. Please feel free to ask any questions.
    Upgrades
    • Ramp (Rosewood) - held with double sided tape.
    • Extended fretboard and end piece (Rosewood)- really a nice piece of work.
    • Pickguard - original owner screwed it in, I filled in holes and use double sided tape to keep it in place
    • DB918 Buffer circuit with switch (see photo's). Forum says this circuit was originally created for Bill Dickens, but who knows. See links below for detail and benefits of this circuit.

For sale: I prefer sale, so I can payoff the IRS. Last Price drop: $575, including shipping Cont USA, Small up-charge for shipping to Alaska, Hawaii and Canada. Included is generic gigbag. I have shipped many guitars and basses so it will be shipped well packed in a proper bass box. Thanks.

  11. Am I seeing it right? There are now two MM style pickups in it?

Yes, it's a 55-01 that comes with two MM type pickups. The 55-02 comes with an MM and a Jazz pickup. With the buffer and the switch the previous owner installed you now have a switch (control) over each pickup rather than a switch (standard). Thank you

Are those quad coil pups? that is an interesting setup. I have a modded 55-01 with regular soaps and an Audere PZ4 in it.. sounds and plays great. GLWTS.. Hope you get a buyer soon.
