    Price:
    1075
    Strings:
    5
    Location:
    California
Up for sale is my Lakland Skyline Darryl Jones 5 on Natural Ash with Maple/Maple neck and fretboard with black inlay blocks.
This is an Indonesian Skyline, great build quality and playability.

Weight feels comfortable, my guess would be 9.2-9.5 lbs. I have no scale so I am going by my other basses known weight here. Definitely lighter than my Fender Jazz Bass V.
The body has great grain and light flaming as seen on the pictures, what looks like crossing lines is the wood grain/flaming.
It is glossy and smooth all around.
Nylon protection is still on the pick guard.
The bass comes in a gig bag.

The bass plays great, I am retiring from 35inch so it is up for grabs.

Price dropped to $1,000.00 shipped in lower 48 only.

The backside of the bass is where you can see the light "flaming" on the wood grain.

Nice looking bass here! You sure it's not a DJ5 though?

    haha, I am positive, it's a 55-60 Custom (I stand corrected, it is a DJ5 according to TB's experts)
It sports the undersized J-Bass style body.

Which is what leads me to believe it's a DJ5 and not a 55-60 Custom. The 55-60 has a normal sized J body whereas the DJ5 has the smaller body style. Also, the DJ5 has 21 frets, such as yours. The 55-60 Custom has 22 frets.

    I bought it as a 55-60 custom.
It has no DJ signature, but im no lakland expert.

You're right, there is no DJ signature. I'll bet if you shot an email to Lakland with the serial number they'd be able to confirm pretty quickly the exact model of this bass.

    Still a beautiful bass regardless!

    Ill do that,
when I got it I was on the look for a Jazz style 5 string and I narrowed down to DJ5 and 55-60.
It will be fun to know which one I actually played over the last year.

It is a DJ-5 model. They've stopped putting the signature on the models a few years ago, but they don't put it on the 5 strings at all! Good luck on the sale!

Its a DJ5, and best to edit the title of this ad...you'll get more hits (the DJ5 is well loved and respected here on TBL). GLWTS!

Thanks folks, corrected title and description.
I spent a year under the idea I was playing a 55-60 but it is a Darryl Jones according to the experts.
In any case it plays amazingly well, neck profile is super comfortable it certainly lives up to Lakland's reputation.

Can you tell us about the pickups and tone, especially in a live mix. Lakie standard pups?

Ken Lloyd, I sent you a PM.
The bass is 100% stock, passive, the tone is quintessential Jazz Bass V with the tightest B string thanks to the 35" scale.
Back in town and wanting to move this one, I am campaigning to get the funds for a nice Tenor sax I have in my sight.
Lowest priced DJ5 here up for grabs.

Man, I bet this'd sound great with my old school Sadowsky preamp. Nice bass.

Hi StevieM I actually play this one through a sadowsky outboard preamp,
it is a great complement to the stock pickups yet it does sound awesome on passive too.
Been playing it these past week, no rush but I find myself heavy on 5 strings and I am more comfortable in 34" scale.

Market is slow moving these days, I am in no rush to sell but ready to entertain trade offers.
I am mostly looking for a nice semi-hollow guitar, Gibson ES, Epiphone made in Japan or Korea.
New selling price is $950 + Shipping.
