Lakland Skyline DJ, or JO?

    To the Lakland owners here...

    How much of a difference tone wise is the Skyline 5'r DJ compired with the JO?

    On new JOs and DJs there's not a whole lot of difference. Both come with Lakland pickups. Biggest differences now are woods (Ash for JO and Swamp Ash for DJ) and body mass differences (if any).

    Older DJs had Aero pickups and older JOs had Fralins. They definitely had different sounds.

    I've got an '08 DJ5 w/Laklands, and I really love it. The different body shape makes it very comfortable, the blocks are awesome and the tone range is terrific.

    But you won't go wrong with either, as long as you "really" want a Jazz Bass.
