Sorry about the crappy Photoshop job, but I did this when I was tired. And I want the skyline version instead...yes I know the bass was a Sadowsky...SORRY NINO!

    55-01

I put real Hipshot tuners on it (had the Korean imitation Gotohs). Took the electronics out and put a Sadowsky preamp in it. My main bass.

  11. Another chance to show off my only 4 string! :D

How would you describe the difference in sound between the two pre's? I'm thinking of putting a new one in my 55-01.

    wushu -

The 55-01 preamp was OK, I just like the Sadowsky preamp for its big, clean tone. Sorry, I really don't remember any details to do a comparison.

    I have a 55-02 that I think is a great value! Very nice bass:bassist:

  17. Hey Big O is that a fender anodized gold pick guard? Do fender replacement pickguards fit on the skyline glaubs ? or did you custom order it ?
Also I,ve been looking into the skyline Glaub and would love to hear your your thoughts as to how it compares to an american series p if thats possible . Thanks

  18. Hey Rick:

The pickguard is gold anodized, and is a stock selection with the Lakland Glaubs, even the Skylines (like mine). The Fender pickguards don't have the same size access opening for the truss rod (the MIM Fenders have no truss rod access). I'm not sure about the exact size of the guards either. If they are identical in size, the screw holes are definitely in the same place.

I've only played vintage P's with rosewood boards, so it's hard to compare with my maple board. IMHO the tone with the ash body is right on, although maybe a bit more open (clean) and laid back with the Lindy Fralin P pickup vs a vintage Fender P. Blows away the current MIA P's, IMHO. But man, I can't afford a '62 to '64 P. and this is as good as I think it will get for me.:D

Bonus - the figuring on the neck looks better in real life than in the photos!
