    Price:
    1000
    Strings:
    4
    Location:
    California
$1000 OBO shipped within North America, won't ship outside of there, and not interested in trades unless you have a Mike Lull 5-string to trade.

This Lakland Skyline Bob Glaub (44-64 is new name) Precision style Bass with one-of-a-kind upgrades.

Previous to my owning it, the bass was refinished in the candy orange color, including matching headstock. As part of the refinish, the headstock now has a US decal on it, but it is a Skyline neck (without the graphite rods). The serial number on the headstock shows it is a Skyline, made in 2008. Full disclosure here. The white fret dots were also upgraded to abalone dots previously.

These are some of the features of the instrument:

    1) Neck (1.625" at the nut) has received the "Carl Pedigo" treatment, which entails sanding off the light Skyline finish and building it back up with Howards Orange Oil/Wax blend to feel similar to US Lakland necks. Among the best feeling necks in the business.

    2) Original P-bass pickup replaced with a brand-new Novak Bisonic (Novak's faithful recreation of the venerable Hammond Darkstar) pickup. Electronics fully shielded with copper tape. I've played Lakland basses with both original, and now Novak recreations, and they sound identical to my ears.

    3) New aged-white pearloid pick guard from Pick guardian

    4) Matching pearl-topped barrel knobs

    5) Ernie Ball cobalt flat wound strings 45-105 and Dunlop strap locks

The bass weighs 9 lbs 5 oz on my digital scale
will ship in a Mono M-80 (black) gig bag. Skylines, when purchased new, do not come with a case or even a gig bag.

Bass has been played, for sure, but no dings, minor player wear only, frets still in very good shape.

    Paypal preferred.

    It's a more "modern" P-bass tone.
If you take your typical vintage P-bass pickup, which is nice and round and full as your starting point, the Darkstar adds more sparkle (my word, others might say grind) to both lows and highs.
That's how I describe the Darkstar.
In reality, you need to play it to "get" it.

country might not be your cup-o-tea, but at least you get a sense of the tone of this bass.

  14. if zeus played a P-bass it would sound like that.

still has that character, just on roids a bit. really nice sounding bass.

i wish that stype humbucker in the P-spot was more common.

good luck with the sale! great bass here folks.
