I own a Laney R5. Loud, punchy, cheap and small. Does me fine. Which combo is it? I like the Richter series, but not the Hardcore Max. YMMV.

I couldnt find any review on LANEY R series combos.
    I guess they are new.
Any reviews on LANEY Richter series ? especially R1 and R2 ?

  5. I had a small Laney 40W combo for a while. A friend sold it to me for 100$. I used it for practice, and it sounded nice. It had a cool sweepable midrange control. Wish I still had it.

  6. I've got the R2 it's great as a bedroom amp...not really very good for much else. it won't keep up in most band situations as it's not very loud even for the rattings. the sound quality is alright and the EQ controls are fairly useful.

I've blown power transistors twice in mine tho.. i've pushed it too far!

I'm now not a fan of the kick back feature it make the thing heavier and harder to move!

Ive got a Laney 50 W. 1x12 combo now.It lastes a couple of years but I think Its had it now.It might be my cables, but it sometimes make the sound go out. Then I had to play the bass REALLY hard to get the sound to reapear. It sounded ok when I first got it but I dont like How it warms my sound.I honestly think playing my bass sounds better acousticly than the amp....unless I put the BP200 to... :) .Still the amp has pretty good construction.I'm saving up for a Gallien Krueger rig .I've been saving for a couple of years.I got $735 :) .

    (700rb-II, and a 410SBX,....I got $355 to go..:( ....)

Your mileage may vary. basically you might have different experiences and results. So, you might like the HCM but not the Richter.

  11. also i might add their are a bunch of reviews on this amp on harmony central. I know because i added one to a long list

Wont be the best in the world to be honest, but the eq's are fairly versatile. Try it out man!

Eh, just tried it out on my R5. It sounds good with my Ibanez, and ok with the P. Doesnt do the vintage slap thing well, but for modern sounds you should be ok. The Boss might help, but the dual-band parametric is very useful.

    Easily done. :)

In fact, for a few years a long time ago, a P was THE funk/slap tone.

Sorry for taking so long to respond man.

My action is set medium/low. Its not high by any means, but I want to feel like Im actually playing something, not just sliding my hands over the top.
