I bought a secondhand Laney RBW300 (165W solid state combo with a single 15" HH driver). I thought it would be powerfull enough for playing Zep, Purple, Rush - style 70's rock. But no - I took it to the rehearsal last weekend and even on full settings I could barely hear it. Obviously my drummer didn't hear it at all. My question is: how powerfull should my amp be? And if I'd get a separate head and enclosure(s), what would be a goo setup? Any brands/models to avoid? One guy said he has an Ampeg 350W head going to one 1x15" and one 2x10, and even that rig isn't "too loud"... Mind you - I don't want to spend a fortune though, but I'd like to get a solid and punchy sound out of it...
