So i got my first ticket today here in las vegas... im pretty pissed about it. it says.... To Wit: acc speed 48/35 Alleged Speed: 40/35 Method: Radar Speed Limit: 35 I got caught by a cop on a bike.. coming down a hill on my way to sell my 215 bass cab to someone... what the hell man... there went the money i got from my cab.... and probably a few other things now :scowl:
5 over and the cop stopped you and gave you a ticket?? Cops around here don't care if you're 5 over. EVERYBODY drives at least 5 over.
yup... you can gun down tupac and get away with it here in vegas... but once you go over the speed limit they drop the bomb!
i dont think any tickets in las vegas show the fine... my friend just went in to clear up a suspended plates and no insurance on-hand and found out he would have paid 1100$ for those two things.. but it was his insurance companies fault for saying he didnt have insurance when he did... the not having proof of insurance was his fault but they cleared it..
You may be able to fight it. Hopefully it's not too much..shouldn't be. I did 40 in a 20 once and a school zone no less, and it was $95.
i seriously hope its $95.. vegas has a rep for ridiculous ticket prices. Im going to try and fight it..
I don't know about there, but here in NC you can always get out of a first time ticket by claiming faulty equipment. Of course I've heard you have to at least get your speedometer calibrated and have proof of that to get out, and they won't let you get off with that if it was more than 15 over. (at least the DA in this area won't) I have no idea if Nevada is the same way, but first time and 5 over would be easy to get off here.
A buddy of mine got one in Vegas for 250 for doing 50 in a 35. I'm going to hope that the officer was in a good mood, for your sake.
Any moving violation ticket here should have the fine amount written on it. Yours is probably around $90. If you want the least amount of hassle call the number on the ticket (you may need to wait about two weeks for it to appear in the system). Admit guilt and say you will pay without a court appearance. They will/should cut the fine in half.
On the freeway here the speed limit is 100 kph but you're allowed to go up to 110 kph in the fast lane. On my 21st birthday years ago I was driving a friend home after a relatively low key night out around 2am and was pulled over at the freeway. The freekin' cops gave me a speeding ticket for being over 110 kph. I usually watch my speed wen I'm driving, my actual speed as stated on fine slip was 111 kph. So I was fined for being 1 kph over, on the night of my 21st birthday. Obviously a slow %#$^# night for the two %#$%@#$ cops that night.
I got one recently as well, I was caught by a camera on the road. I was sure the limit was 80 km/h so I drove about that when I passed the camera, but it was obviously 60... The fine I got a week later said I drove 78 and that costed me 115€. My first fine I got from a cop on a motorcycle 3 years ago when I was driving 111 km/h on an area where the limit was 80 km/h. 30 over usually means they suspend your license for some time, but I was lucky as I only got a fine. But I could have imagined doing something else for the 352 € I had to pay... They calculate the fines here from your income. You can easily get 100k€ fines if you are a millionaire and drive a little too fast. The police get is information rather quickly so you know what the fine will be almost instantly. Sounds strange to have to wait for that...
there's no amount on the ticket and i even asked the cop how much and he said to call one of the two numbers at the bottom. I'll call today and see whats up.. hopefully it wont take 2 weeks for me to find out..
I feel your pain my brother. I got a parking ticket last week for parking too long in a four hour residential zone. I have parked there plenty of times with no problem. I got the ticket on Oct 1st so I guessing four hour zone started that day and I missed teh sign. A parking ticket like this where I live will set you back $74.00. Nothing I can do except learn to pay more attention, pay the ticket and move on.
