Anyone see where the lady walked in with what she thought was a signed bass guitar that was used by Paul McCartney...

and then they had the expert come in and look at it..

turns out it was a Jay Turser copy....not a real "Hoffy"

and it was also left-handed instead of right......

Expert said Macca never autographs guitars........and he definitely never played that one.....

She earlier payed 12,000 dollars for the guitar and some signed pictures (which were also fake)....and was hoping to get somewhere around $ 25000 for the combined lot.

They thanked her for coming in and she left the store thoroughly dejected for being originally ripped off for 12 Grand........

Anyone who drops 12 grand without doing any research deserves to get hosed. That's like buying a Honda with Ferrari written on the hood in crayon.

Haha yeah I saw that one, I was watching with a friend and told him it was not legit before the commercials hit. As noted, it was a right handed bass (not a left OP ;)) and a Jay Turser...

Although that show is staged, so I doubt the woman has any money in. There is a guy who brings in some vintage guitar, the expert they call is the actual owner of the guitar, so obviously the guy decides not to pawn it. I have not seen the episode but I have had the debacle explained here on TB.

  7. Yep, that show is scripted (staged).

The other night some guy brought in a Willie Mays uniform. At least he said it was a WM uniform. The "expert" came in, took a quick look at it, and said "yep I guarantee it's 100% original" ??? No testing of the thread, no black light on the uniform, nothing. And the pawn shop promptly bought it for $31,000 !!!

  8. but do they have battletoads?

So this is not real? Not controversial?

    Probably, it is relatively common.

The real question is can you finish Battletoads?

  12. so tell me with the availability of the net, why do so people still turn up at these shows wondering how much their 1550 spanish golden coin is worth? and then sell it for a hundred bucks? you know what i mean

Maybe they want to be on TV, and have a chance to become the next star with a TV show of their own? Pawn Stars has already yielded two spin-off shows for characters who appears on the show now and then.

That's about all I can come up with.

well....the show is in Las Vegas...personally I think a lot of those "1550 Spanish Coin" -types are looking for some quick cash to head for the casinos..........

  15. Ouch. I did not know this. But I am not surprised. Most so-called reality TV is scripted.

Pawn Stars is 100% scripted, and 100% pure crap. Anyone ever been to the store in Vegas? It's not a pawn shop anymore. It's now a souvenir store/Pawn Stars museum.

I don't think I was ever able to beat Battletoads with the Game Genie. Now the Battletoads and Double Dragon cross-over, I had that one in the bag.

    The burning question:-

If Pawn Star's store is now a museum....what happened to Chum Lee?

He went on a health kick and lost a ton of weight. I was happy to see his transformation. I get disappointed when TV shows portray the fat kid role.
