I found this on Gibson's website, in an article on the history of Gibson amps...

I was under the impression that there were no Trace Elliot amps made after the UK factory closed. Anyone seen these 2002 Trace Elliots?

  2. That timeline just goes to show the lengths to which a company will be dishonest to support its image. There were NO US made Trace Elliot bass amps and the acoustic guitar amps I saw were ALL made in Korea as well as several supposedly 'Kaman only' products like SMX pedals. They are trying to split hairs by saying that "Gibson" branded amps were somehow Trace products. If Gibson says the sky is blue, you can almost guarantee it's raining and night.

That's what I thought. I guess the plan was to transfer production to the US, as this news article from the time says...

...but Gibson never got round to that with the bass amps.

I thought the Goldtone was basically a repackaged Vellocette?
