Lazy String Cleaning...

    ...Is there anyway to make old strings sound better without taking them off your bass? Because everytime i take them off to soak them in metho (not boiling water) the neck seams to make a weird noise and I KNOW thats not good for the bass.

    So what i ask, is there anyway to give the strings a clean sound without taking them off?

    A couple of wipes with fast fret might take some of the goo out of the strings. That may brighten them up a bit. But there is not reason you can't remove the strings from your bass. It shouldn't harm it in any way.

    if there is a creeking noise or a small crackling sound, its just the wood settling, its no problem.
