Leak? Fender / Squier Meteora Bass

Too bad they didn't ask me before going ahead with it.

Possible Dimension pickups in a non-proprietary shell?

If real, its basically a repackaged Dimension (Factory guy says to foreman and visiting middle management guy "Hey, I found a bunch of boxes with Dimension parts taking up space on the shelves. Should I throw them out?")

They're not Dimension pickups. They're double J pickups. Look closely and you can see the line between them. Fender has used them before, in the Blacktop Precision and the Modern Player Jazz.

The preamp might be the same as the Dimension, but I'd have to open one up to find out.

When I made my comment, I was thinking overall electronics, minus the blade switch......the pickup positions are different as well: J positions as opposed to MM positions......I'm not crazy about the groovy airline 60s look but at least Fender is trying something different again, which I appreciate

Hoo boy that blue...

I'm on record as someone with a "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY" position on an official Fender Meteora bass, but I can't help but wonder if they're going to suffer from neck dive.

They are 100% coming.. I'm kinda bummed about the colors tho. The blue should have the maple neck IMO, thats the only one that would appeal to me besides the silverburst. Or they could have done some crazy sparkle/flake colors. Anyway, silverburst it is I guess. Or maybe I'll get that AND blue and swap the necks :D

Can I also join the record in saying I'm conflicted. I want to go into shut up and take my money mode but I gotta wait and see with those pickups and colours. Might be one of those basses I have to buy in person.

As a Dimension owner and bit of a Fender fanboy I can certainly say I'm going to keep an eye on this one. Oddball Fenders are extra neato to me.

I used to be a pretty solid single/split coil passive EQ person, but owning a Thunderbird has really opened my eyes and ears to new possibilities, such so that I'll soon own an American Deluxe HH Dimension. Very stoked. And I remember when the Meteora guitars first came out, my first thought was "why do guitar players get all the cool new body shapes?" Happy to see these coming out, and am totally fine with active-only EQs. I believe I saw on another site that they'll use the old S1 switch for coil switching, but maybe that's just the guitars. It'd be very cool if they used the same 5-way switching options as the Dimension, but I don't see a toggle, so I'm guessing not.

Anyway, I showed my SO, and she was kinda "meh". We'll see. She has great taste, but sometimes things need to grow on people.

I'd love to see more colour options, and I think a Tele style headstock would have been very cool. I like them anyway.
