I volunteer at a local school in math and music. I complimented a student on how well he learned a song I assigned last week. And he said he learned it on You tube by slowing it down to 0.75 x on the settings button! Doh! I didn't know that you could slow down youtube. My transcription life just got a lot easier. Need I mention I am in my 60s.
That's all right. I posted some of "my trade secrets" here and no one even responded. But they were on music theory and techniques, so ...... I think we are safe
No but I showed that what he was playing was the Am phrygian (Spanish) scale and showed him a much better fingering than what Songsterr tabs showed.
I started playing bass in 1994, and I can only imagine having access to the unbelievable range of technology that the kids have now. Hmmmmm....maybe now with this information I will finally be able to learn "Teen Town".........If I slow it down to 1/8 speed.....
I'm just super-proud that both my boys played low brass in middle school band and can read bass clef! I can't....
Had to laugh when I read this post. The exact same thing happened to me this week, believe it or not! A kid showed me the function in the Youtube app. Been using Transcribe for years but this will undoubtedly come in handy when I'm not at home. Now if they would only let us slow down to custom percentage!
Man, that’s sweet. I have been going to a website that does it for you (if you have an .mp3). This sounds a lot simpler!
I work with 50 song set lists, so I have learned 100 songs in two weeks. I had scores already for the tricky ones and went offline with metronome to nail the parts. But playing thru at 75 percent is very nice.
Make sure you have the right fingering and play four fingered. I know some of the Jaco transciptiins are not good.
Mind blown. Never knew. on the video, just click on the small gear icon in the lower right and then select the speed you want.
pitch control on turntable or cassette deck ... while breaking needles/cartridges and magnetising tappe heads ... ! my 4 yr old Aussie probably has a higher IQ than most folks in my current gated golf community ... !!??!! they didn't tell us your IQ had to start with a decimal point to move in here ... !?
