I just started bass in January and you're one of the reasons I picked it over reg guitar. Is there any reference for Minutemen music for bass? (BTW I have a Fender Jazz Mexican for a starter that has the sweetest tone running out of a 60 watt Fender Bassman. My Strat buddy was even blown away by it.)

Tabs can be a handy time-saver; I've used them plenty of times for guitar stuff when I wanted to figure out some tricy chords in a hurry. But I'm a big fan of learning stuff by ear. Bass isn't just about moving your fingers in the right places, it's about hearing all the music and getting an intuitive sense for how the bass part fits in. Picking out songs by ear is a great way to develop that skill.

Also, you have to be wary of tabs. The tabs I've found online range from excellent to just plain wrong.
