make one. all you will need is a piece of leather, snips, some punches, and a hammer. Leather work is pretty easy IMO.

Talk to this guy (happens to be a friend of mine)...El Dorado Straps. He's done a bunch of custom work in addition to his regular products.

will do, and my design will be less 60s

probably some celtic stuff around the edges, but i love the faded brown look for the leather. do you think i can achieve some design with a slightly dulled razor blade pressing into the leather to form a design?

I think a celtic themed one could look pretty good on a green or white bass.

I would use something less likely to cut the leather like a butter knife instead of a razor.

When I did leather work like this, I also wet the leather a little.

Some really durable leather that would be more resistant to scrathces would be cool on some basses.

It reminds me of the case my mom used to have for her pack of cigarettes.

Unless you're playing for Willie Nelson. Please dont do this to a bass, guys.

  10. It looks like it belongs on a wall...like art work. A Celtic one could be really cool though...but what happens to the leather after it gets hit by sweat? Won't it stench up?

For some unknown reason, I really like that. :bag:

  13. I'm kinda iffy on it....It looks cool, but leathe on a bass.....it seems almost blasphemous. I feel that if I touched it I would be struck down by lightning....but then again I would do it if it had a different design.....damned moral delimas.......

I like it a lot actually. It's got that late 60's / early 70's vibe to it.

It'd probably look a bit better if the design was moderately pro - looking.

I just wanted to bump this comment. ;)

No leather for me unless I plan on going for that authentic country and western look.

looks good but i'd imagine it'd smell with sweat and would deteriorate a lot faster than a plastic one.
