I found a deal on some highway one fender tuners but they are for a left hand neck ( they don’t look has though they can be taken apart and reversed ). Will these style tuners fit on a right hand neck. I realize I will have to get use to turning in the opposite direction but that’s not a big deal. I just don’t want the tuners themselves to hang off either end of the headstock.

I think it should work, the plate in the G might be a close fit, but the buttons will be south of the posts and it’ll look off. Probably be fun watching guys try to figure out just what it is that just doesn’t seem right and they can’t quite put their finger on it.

They look so much like the mim tuners, I'd be surprised if they aren't the same thing. At any rate the base plate is formed in the same manners as the mim tuner. I can't believe those tuners wouldn't be reversible.

    They are the same thing.

You should be able to get a set of MIM machine heads on ebay for around $25.

Also, i’ve never seen or heard of a LH Highway 1. Does not mean they don’t exist, just means i’ve never seen one. That being said, and knowing the Highway 1 basses use MIM Machine heads, i’m betting the LH set is from an MIM as several MIM bass models are available in LH versions.

Maybe a reverse neck, rather than left handed?

  6. I'm trying to picture this.
I keep coming up with the tuning ears under the headstock rather than out to the side?
    Uh, I don't know. :bored:

Could well be, but i’ve never seen a highway 1 (one?) with a reverse headstock either. As with left handed, could be one, i’ve just never seen one. :D

  8. Here's an outside-of-box thought... just get the right tuners? ;)

It's just a left hand neck on a right hand bass, with the side markers so the right handed player can see them.

If the price is as good as he indicates, it's a 5 minute job to reverse the keys so it's right handed.

  10. OK. I thought I read somewhere in this thread that they weren't reversible?

You might have seen the OP's remark asking if they are or not. They are.

I thought that's what I said when I mentioned highway one and MIM use the same heads. Service diagrams for each bass carry the same P/N for head sets. Why pay for an odball set when you can have the right parts for around thirty bucks?

Sorry. My socks are the wrong color and it's just been a major distraction for me all day. :(
