    Thanks so much for that link. I have looked at Ishibashi before but had never seen this page. I wonder why there is such a large variety of lefty models available in Japan?

    Yep, you can buy the fretless for around $600, and the '75 for around $850, directly from Japan. Ishibashi is the best store to deal with - they are polite and ship fast.

    Just another proof of the ethics of Southpaw!

    There is no Japan Custom Shop!

    BTW, the fretless "Jaco style" has a basswood body (could be too light and cause severe neck diving) and cheap pickups - butgreat for the price nevetheless. The '75 is almost the real deal.

    You want to buy the "Fender Kanda" stuff - it is the better factory of Fender Japan.

    My next bass is going to be an 'assembled' Jazz as soon as I can find the parts, time, money, etc. After that, I'm definitely checking out one of those two places.
