He uses Marshall 100 watt heads cranked to deafening volumes (putting out closer to 180-200 watts), which gives him the distortion. Nothing else. EDIT: He also uses 4x12 & 4x15 cabs as well.

AND he changed the pickups on his Rics to Barts or old Tbird ones. He once described stock Ric pickups as 'like chewing corrugated iron'. He likes his custom ones however.
