I must confess I love Lenny. He is perhaps the last of an early 19th century phenomenon in art music of composer, arranger, conductor and virtuoso. He is also far more open minded than a good many here. Then again his comfort with music outside classical was always extensive. QJ could die a happy man having written West Side Story, but, he didn't.

Miroslav Vitous moved from Europe and played the NY jazz scene before being the first bassist in Weather Report. He's a monster. Find his stuff.
So he's playing in a club with some famous players and he notices that a man is at the front of the stage with his head really close to the lower bout of his upright. Vitous motions to his bandmates to look at this guy. They just nod. Turns out our close listener was yes, Leonard Bernstein. :)
