ok i have a primus anthology bass/guitar book and on the song My name is Mud (Guitar Part) in a certain part it says "Leslie effect on" then later it says "Leslie effect off". Now i know this is in the guitar section but what in the world is the "Leslie Effect"????

I believe it is a rotating speaker effect. I also believe that you can get a similar sound from a phaser.

Thanks Lo-end, ill pass this info to my guitarist!!!!
  4. The origional leslie effect was something that looks like a piece of funature origionally used by organ players but guitarist started using it for a rotary effect. It's basically a speaker spinning around in a box (or best describing it) creating a phasor like effect or a real sick sounding chorus... Pretty useless lugging around something that looks like nightstand when gigging but the Line 6 makes a great sim in it's MM4.

Danelectro make a cheap rotary speaker effect called "Rocky Roads" apparently very good.

Hughes & Kettner's Rotosphere is quite good.
