Was perusing my local craigslist and was amazed at what you can get for $500 these days. Thought it would be fun to see what kind of rig you guys could cobble together from your local craigslist. Not just like a Squier + Peavey 50W combo type rig, but the "squeeze every last cent out of that budget" rig. Something that you would personally be willing to take out and play on tour (reliability is a factor). Lets set some ground rules: 1) By "gig-able", I mean no First Act/Squier Affinity basses, Bugera/Raven/Behringer amps, PA cabs from the 1960's etc. I'm not saying that one couldn't gig with those, but it's just not that difficult to find that kind of stuff on a budget. So lets say any bass that would cost over $500 new, amp must be 150-Watts or more, cab must be 1x10" or larger (combos are fine). 2) The entire rig must be from your LOCAL craigslist (not nearby areas) and the asking price is the price. No "I already have a bass so I can get this amp for $500" or "I can probably talk this guy down to $X.XX". 3) Projects are OK, but you must factor in all the costs to finish off the project. I'll post my rig in the next post. Game on!
